To Do in Split — Your guide to Split

Getting around

Split Airport to the City Centre

Take the airport shuttle. It leaves about 30 minutes after every arriving flight and takes around 30 minutes to Split's main bus station, beside the ferry port and a five-minute walk from the old town — €10 one way as of October 2026. City bus 37 is the cheap, slower alternative at €2 prepaid or €4 from the driver. The airport is about 20 km west, at Kaštela.

The options

  • Airport shuttle (run by Platanus): leaves about 30 minutes after each arriving flight, from the first to the last, and runs non-stop to the main bus station next to the ferry port in about 30 minutes, longer in summer traffic. €10 one way or €15 return as of October 2026, one suitcase included, children under six free. The one to take if you are staying in or near the old town.

  • Promet Split bus 37 (Split – Airport – Trogir): about every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 at weekends. The airport is outside the city zone, so you need a Split–Kaštela ticket: €2 bought in advance (Promet Split app or ticket office), €4 from the driver (fares from 1 June 2026). Slower than the shuttle, it does not go to the main bus station by the port, and it also serves Trogir — useful if you are staying west of the city.

  • Taxi, Uber or Bolt: taxis wait outside the main terminal. Worth it for three or four people with luggage, or for a door-to-door ride after a late landing. Check the fare in the app, or agree it at the rank, before you set off.

  • Car hire: desks in the terminal. Only useful if you are leaving Split — parking in the centre is difficult and expensive, and you do not need a car for anything inside the city.

Which one

The shuttle is the default for most people. It is timed to every flight, takes your suitcase in the hold, and drops you at the main bus station, a five-minute walk from the Riva and the old town. Bus 37 is the budget choice if you are not in a hurry and are staying on its route or in Trogir. A taxi only makes sense for a group or a late landing — for one or two people travelling in daylight, the shuttle is the better deal.

Late arrivals

The shuttle is scheduled to the last flight of the day, but its departure times follow the arrivals board rather than a fixed timetable, and Platanus warns that the schedule can change in the shoulder seasons. If you land after midnight, check its timetable before you count on it. A taxi or a ride-hailing app is the safe answer at that hour.

Staying in Bačvice or further east? Stay on the shuttle to the main bus station and walk from there; it is closer than the old town.
