About
We live here. That's the whole pitch.
To Do in Split is written by people who live in Split. We visit what we write about, we pay for our own meals and tickets, and we say when something is overrated. This page explains how the site is funded and where our commercial interests lie.
How we decide what goes on the site
A place gets a page when we would send a friend there. That is the entire test. We do not accept payment for a recommendation, a position in a list, or a kind word. If a restaurant is overrated we say so, and if a tour is not worth the money we would rather you spent it on lunch.
Every page carries the name of the person who wrote it and the month we last checked it. Prices, opening hours and ferry times in Croatia change with the season, so we re-verify the practical details on a schedule — tours and restaurants every 90 days, beaches before each season, attractions once a year.
How we make money, and who we are connected to
Disclosure. The tours listed on this site are operated by Bura Adriatic d.o.o., which shares ownership with the company that publishes this guide. When you book one of those tours here, that money reaches the same people who write these pages. We think you should know that before you read another word of our recommendations.
That connection does not buy a place on a list. Tours are ranked by the same test as everything else — whether we would send a friend — and they sit alongside ferries, buses and other operators' trips where those are the better answer. Where a day out is better done independently, we say so and tell you how.
Where we do not operate something ourselves, we may link to an operator who pays us a commission. Those links are marked rel="sponsored" and they never change what we recommend or the order things appear in. Sponsored content, if we ever run any, will be labelled as sponsored at the top of the page — not in the footer, not in small type.

The people
Who writes this
Writer · food and islands
I moved to Split from Zagreb in 2016 and never got round to leaving. I write about eating here, and about the islands, which I reach more often by other people's boats than my own.
Editor · lives in Varoš
Born in Split, lived in Varoš for most of it. I write the practical pages here — opening hours, ferry times, which konoba is worth the walk — and I check them myself rather than copying them from somewhere else. Most summers I am on the water more than on land.
