How Many Days Do You Need in Split?

Two days covers Split itself comfortably. Three lets you add an island or Krka. Four to five turns it into a proper base for the whole central Dalmatian coast. One day is enough to see the palace and regret not staying longer.

Split from a Cruise Ship

History

Split from a Cruise Ship

You do not need a shore excursion in Split. The cruise berths and the tender landing are a five-to-fifteen-minute walk from Diocletian's Palace, and the whole old town is walkable. Four hours covers the palace; six adds Marjan or a swim; eight lets you add Trogir or Klis by local bus.

Buses, Taxis & Parking in Split

You will not need a car in Split. The old town is pedestrian and the beaches are a walk or a short ride on Promet Split's buses: €1.50 a ticket bought in advance or €3 from the driver, valid 60 minutes (fares from 1 June 2026). Bus 12 is the beach bus to Kašjuni. Parking in the centre costs €1.20 an hour on the street in summer, much more in the car parks.
